Sometimes Life Just Happens

It’s been months since new words have fallen across the face of this page.  Not for lack of substance, rather, absence of form.  Many a days I have sat staring at the glowing screen, fingers laid across keys, ready to pour out all, yet fingers refused to move.  After only a few moments, motivation would flee, back to the dark crevice in which it had taken up residence, and cursor would find its way to the little box with the “x” in it at the top right corner of the page.

Sometimes life just happens…

We get caught up in the “Right-heres” and “Right-nows” of life.  We lose sight of the big picture.  Babies begin waking through the night, pearly whites insistent on being.  Mommy starts drinking more coffee to make it through the day.  Daddy’s intentions of shorter hours, leading to the formation of something new, thwarted by losing sight of the vision.  Toddlers deciding that bed time is optional and tantrums becoming a part of the nightly routine.  Yup.  Sometimes life just happens… and we haven’t a choice, but to go right along with it.  Somewhere, down the road, we look back and find that we made it through… came out on the other side, but lost track of where we were going.

Re-establish the vision.  Ask Father Up Above to give a new one.  Bring us back around to His way of thinking.  Re-focus our eyes upon Him, His Plan, the Way He laid out for us.

In This World, Not Of It (part 5)

Politics
This is the fifth part in a series.  If you haven’t already, please read part 1,part 2, part 3, & part 4.

Politics

Ok, I realize that I may step on some toes here, as politics seems to be a bit of a “sacred cow” in our society, but isn’t “a sacred cow” just another way of saying “an idol”? Read more »

Laying On Of Hands

Healthcare

In today’s political climate, the term “healthcare” is entangled with passionate feelings on all sides.  While I do think that the topic of insurance is worth examining in light of the Word, what I’m referring to here is the actual care given, not the means by which it is paid for.

Now, I hate to step on some toes here, and I feel I might, but what does the Word of Wisdom, which was uttered forth by our very Maker say we ought to do when we encounter illness?

James 5:14-15 ~ Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. In This World, Not Of It (part 3)

This is part 3 of a series.  Please read part 1 and part 2 first.

    Employment

The enemy is not limited to attacking the family via the children.  If he can pull the family apart, separating the father from the wife and children, then he has managed to remove the first line of defense.  The husband and father is the protector of his family.  The relationship we have with our earthly fathers very strongly shapes our view of the Heavenly Father.  An absent father on earth teaches us that our Heavenly Father has abandoned us, allowing us to fend for ourselves in this world. This is not to criticize any man for going out and providing for his family! Please do not mistake my words! A man who provides food, clothing, and shelter for his family is fulfilling part of his role as husband and father.  However, if a job, which ought be a means to provision, becomes the driving force which takes up the bulk of a man’s life, then the enemy has effectively broken the family unit, severing the head from the body. This is the second part of a series.  The first part can be found here.

Education

The enemy of our Father, is seeking to destroy us.  If he can destroy our understanding of the family unit as our Father constructed and ordained it to function, then he can destroy our understanding of our relationship with our Heavenly Father.  Satan’s tactics are simple, yet cunning: divide and conquer. He repackages his sinister plans as “convenience” for us, or convinces us that his system is better for us in some way.  So it is with public education. Regardless of how many times, in how many ways, our Father tells us that children are a blessing from Him, we have somehow bought into the lie that it is better for us or them or both, that we send them off to school to be raised by people we don’t know, teaching them ideals we have not approved of. In This World, Not Of It (part 1)

Conformity

When the King of Everything set out creating the universe, He poured out the foundation by the Wisdom of His Word.  As He established a home for His family, He put forth a framework for us to follow His lead, setting our own families apart from this world, which is not our home.  We are not like those who have no inheritance.  We must not strive to be one with this world, for we have a home awaiting us that is far greater than the world we inhabit.  We must remain separated from this world’s system, maintaining the image of our Father, that we not be mistaken for tares among the wheat at the final harvest.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you prove what is that good and well-pleasing and perfect desire of Elohim.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of Elohim, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it shall be given to him.

Mommy’s *New* Little Helper

2624884458_8bb4291df9_b

As I sat and thought about what to write about for my first review, I considered the many half-read books on my shelf, outdated cd’s in my collection and well-used diapers in my stash. None of them jumped out at me as the “must-have” for homemakers that I wanted to share with you. I reluctantly put away my lap top as I headed to the kitchen to start dinner. Without missing a beat, I picked up my iPhone and carried it with me. In an instant I had my answer! This handy little device, that goes everywhere I do, is by far my most useful tool as a wife and mom! (I was going to say “the obvious exceptions being my Bible and prayer” but even these things are integrated into my iPhone. More on that later.)

Were I to have only one piece of technology, this would be it.  As a stay-at-home mom, less is almost always more.  There are so many things to do in a day, and never enough time to finish them.  It can become a bit overwhelming at times, but my iPhone has allowed me to consolidate so many of my necessary tools, balance the many roles I fill as wife and mother, and save time – all while staying connected to the outside world.  (Hurray for adult interaction!)
